This is a wonderful, simple book for a simple soul such as mine. It focuses upon a series of good reproductions of Manet's pictures with an insight into the reasons for his painting them and the art institutes reaction.

It is a 'one session' book, taking an hour or so to read but, I believe that I shall be wandering back to this tome from time to time to enjoy the works and, next time I see Manet's work in an exhibition, I shall be a wiser man (not a difficult concept to grasp!)
