Inspired Artistry, by Pamela Poole, is an inspirational and enlightening devotional. Though not very long, it packs a LOT of information.

I often don’t feel creative at all, nor do a lot of women I know. Inspired Artistry dispels that idea quite nicely. There are many ways one can be artistic without being an artist. Poole quotes a passage in Exodus 35, verses 10-19, to illustrate her point. In one passage, it mentions shepherds-I never thought of shepherds as artists-but just think about it for a moment. It helps to keep me from feeling like a lowly homemaker!

I really appreciated a section on her personal stance against objectionable materials that are encountered by artists of varying types and how to deal with them for ourselves.

As I read her good advice, I very well remembered a situation where I had a real struggle with this issue. I had wanted to join a large, nationally known and heretofore well-respected Christian fiction organization. Before I committed a substantial amount of money, I saw a comment on FB from an author I respected. The comment related there was to be a guest speaker at the convention who had been there before and used some hard-core curse words in their earlier speech, leaving the author to believe it would happen again. I checked into the allegations and found they were true.

I was heartily disappointed because other authors I knew and respected were on the committee. Also disappointing me, there was nothing from any of them to let prospective attendees know of the nature of the speaker’s past speech. Only a tenacious and searching mindset allowed me to make an informed decision. Needless to say, I didn’t join. Christian artistry needs the testimony of Pamela Poole.

I enjoyed Poole’s openness with her own struggles and how she related specific, detailed Bible verses to share her line of reasoning. If you’re facing writer’s block, painter’s block, feelings of inadequacy as a homemaker or a woman, you will like and be grateful for Poole’s perspective.

I received Inspired Artistry from Celebrate Lit. However, I was under no obligation to post a review.

This book will inspire you to discover your gifts and use them to honor God. I know I can raise my hand and say I have no artistic talent. My husband is very gifted in airbrushing and painting. He has used his talent to do murals for churches and homes. I’m in awe of his ability and how he gracefully sees a blank canvas come to life. Now what is my artistic talent? Do I even have any?
While reading this book, I found that I have artistic talents but never thought of them as that. I am very creative and can take a song and do a dramatic interpretation of it. Many of the Children’s Christmas plays I directed was from a script that I enhanced and expanded on. Wait a minute? I do have abilities and never realized that I was using my gifts to share His Word.
The book is very well planned out and gives readers not only examples but scriptures to help us discover what God has given us to use for His glory. What about the person who said words of encouragement to you and brought a smile to your face. Their gift is a way of expressing feelings that bring comfort and joy. I began to look at artistic abilities in a new light. We all have a gift that can be used to be His hands and feet.
I love to do reviews for authors to bless them for their hard work. I never thought of it as a gift until now. It is easy for me to put into words how I feel about something, but verbally expressing is difficult for me. This book is very encouraging and I appreciate how transparent the author is as she shares her struggles with being an artist. I hope everyone will grab a copy of this book to find encouragement, your artistic talent and joy in everything you do to honor God
“Our creativity is valuable as we are shaped by Him and as we live wisely to make time for it. Creative initiative comes when we understand the power and dominion in creativity.”
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

What I think you should know:
Landmark is the fourth book in the Painter’s Place Saga. While it is the fourth book it is a prequel set in 1960 before “ The Big Three” Wyeth, Andy and Phillip met their wives and were married. I feel that this book could be read first and the reader would be able to appreciate the story without having read the first three books in the saga.

What I enjoyed the most:
Pamela Poole, the author has written another book that captured my heart and my imagination. I love how she included songs and lyrics that people could have been listening to when this novel took place. I really enjoyed getting to know The Big Three and how their experiences guided them in the raising of the next generation of Painter’s Place. I appreciate their faith and how it shines throughout the book. If you have never read a Painter’s Place novel this would be a great place to start!

Who will love this book:
Fans of Christian Fiction
60s fanatics
Anyone who wants a clean romance novel.

I received a complimentary copy for this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

I struggled with this book, and it does highlight the values I hold dear, but it is the first book in this series that I have read, and I felt lost most of the time.
There is romance here, good clean romance, with the values of a deep Christian Faith, and I agreed with all that was offered, and I really loved the compassion given to those who have sinned.
I did love how these characters kept to their Christian values throughout their lives, and they were tested and tempted everywhere!
I love the description of this beautiful island that they lived on in South Carolina, and that it was settled by the Painter Family, and the home, which made me want the room with the veranda with the ocean view.
A sweet romance, a bit of mystery and an epilogue!

I received this book through Celebrate Lit and was not required to give a positive review.
