1) Rutherford Hayes Platt [Jr] (1894 -1975). Author of books on plants and nature and editor of collections of biblical apocrypha. Both his father (1853-1928, nephew of the President and thus first cousin of (3) below) and son are *also* named Rutherford Hayes Platt and active in political and intellectual circles.

2) Rutherford H. Platt (1940 - ) Professor of Geography at University of Massachutsetts and director of the Ecological Cities project. Author of books on city planning, land use and disaster planning.

3) Rutherford Platt Hayes (1858 -1927) Son of President Rutherford B. Hayes and long time secretary of the American Library Association

4) Rutherford V. Platt (1974 - ) Professor of Environmental Studies at Gettysburg. Author of papers on remote sensing and land use.
