Frances Fox Piven

Frances Fox Piven, Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Sociology at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, is an expert in the development of the welfare state, political movements, urban politics, voting, and electoral politics. She has taught at numerous universities in the United States and Europe and is the author of many books, including the bestselling Poor People's Movements (with Richard Cloward).
