This is a beautiful picture book about the birth of Jesus Christ our Saviour. It starts with the angel telling Mary she will give birth to the son of God and continues through the birth. It also includes the story of the Wisemen meeting with King Herod, their dream after seeing Jesus and the escape to Egypt of the Holy Family. A complete telling of the story from the gospels. The illustrations are very lifelike, including the angels and that really adds to the book. A book to be in every Christmas library at home and in public.

NCLA Review: Sophie Piper has written numerous children’s books dealing with prayer and children. This latest effort is a book intended to help children to pray. But perhaps more importantly it brings children a message that every moment of their lives is lived surrounded and enveloped by God’s love for them and all creation. From early in the morning, continuing throughout the day during meals and at bedtime, children will learn to pray in gratitude and thanksgiving. Wonderful and colorful illustrations by Emily Bolam depict children in a variety of daily activities and beautifully complement each accompanying poetic prayer. This is a wonderful book for parents of young children to read to them at bedtime. Beginning readers will be able to enjoy this inspirational book on their own. Rating: 3 —MF… (altro)
