This is awesome! Lena and I never got past the first part of the book, with the weather sensors. The projects accomdate a good range of ability levels, so that was nice to see. I had wanted to get Electronic Circuits for the Evil Genius, but this was what was available at the library.

I think we might check this out again come science fair time.

A nice addition to any electronic hobbyist library, this book contains working designs for all sorts of sensory devices to measure liquids, gases, temperature, radiation, magnetic fields, seismic vibrations, the list goes on. The projects are reasonably scaled to a determined newb or a reasonably seasoned electronics hobbyist.

Because many of the projects provide the ability to measure things now considered to be indicators of paranormal activity (including EMF meters, ultra- and subsonic detectors, radiation and ion sensors, etc.), I added the "paranormal" tag to this book, no tongue in cheek. The paranormal geek can have a rolling good time working on some of these projects.

My only beef with this book is one that I have with many others of the electronics and general do-it-yourself variety books: component source information on some of the more obscure components is a bit sparse. The Ideal World would have this book containing a part-numbered parts list for each project, orderable from DigiKey or Radio Shack or Fry's. The Perfect World would have a companion kit one could order that contains ALL of the parts, including a pretty box to put the results into.

This being a less than perfect world, the book still rates a solid and enthusiastic FOUR.
