Sarah and David are constantly bickering and on the edge of divorce... until they show up for their couple's counseling session one day and their therapist tries to eat them. But will surviving the zombie apocalypse together save their marriage?

OK, with a premise like that, I think you have two possible ways to end up with something actually good. One is to use the horror and absurdity of the zombie apocalypse as a backdrop for an actually insightful exploration of the nature of a troubled marriage. Based on the title, the cover, and the cheap mass-market nature of the publication, I was not expecting this approach. The other option is to write a fun, Shaun of the Dead-style romp with the troubled marriage thing there to add humor, character moments, and maybe even a touch of heart. This is definitely the approach this one is going for. Does it succeed? Eh, not really.

I mean, I guess there's a moment or two when I came close to smiling at some comment one or the other of the central couple made, but that's about all I can say for it. Really, it's just a bog-standard zombie story. Well, all right, that's just a little unfair, as it does use a slightly different-than-usual idea about how people turn into zombies, where the bloodlust actually precedes the zombification. That is something that could be used to add horror, tension, and emotional impact, but unfortunately the story doesn't really do anything all that interesting with it. So, well, I may be less tired of zombies than most people, but this one still kind of left me yawning. I definitely won't be going on with the rest of the series.

I enjoyed this one! I am so glad that I finally tackled this series. It was a lighter listen but had enough zombie action to keep my interest at all times. I really appreciated the humor that was worked into the story. I would recommend reading the series in order if at all possible since details from the first two books are frequently referred to in this installment.

In this installment, David and Sarah are trying to make it to the wall that has divided the United States in half. They have some pretty close calls with other survivors and pick up a couple of individuals to help them on their mission along the way. David is having a few side effects from his close call in the previous book that made things extremely interesting.

I listened to the audiobook and thought that Cassandra Campbell did a great job with the story. I really think that she has been the perfect narrator for this series. She really brought the characters to life and helped to make the story even more exciting. I would definitely pick up more books in the series if given the chance.

This was fun! I love zombie books and enjoyed the first book in this series so I decided to jump right into the second book. This book picks up shortly after the events of the first book so I would encourage others to read this series in order if at all possible. In this installment, David and Sarah have decided to go into business together, working to exterminate zombies for others.

There really weren’t any big surprises in the story but I had fun watching Sarah and David navigate a world full of zombies. Not to mention the evil scientist and the kid they end up partnered with. I thought that the humor in the story was well done and loved seeing just how much David and Sarah care about each other. There were a few surprises before that really had me worrying if Sarah and David were going to make it.

I listened to the audiobook and thought that Cassandra Campbell did a fantastic job with this story. I love the voices she uses for the characters and thought that she made the story feel even more exciting. She does a great job of delivering the humor of the story as well. I hope to start reading the next book in the series very soon.

This was a lot of fun! It has been a while since I picked up a zombie book so I decided that it was time to finally give this book a try. Zombies plus a nice dose of humor? Yes, please! I liked Sarah and David and appreciated the fact that instead of making goo-goo eyes at each other they were headed for divorce before zombies started showing up. They actually learn about the zombies when their marriage counselor tries to eat them.

This was a rather light read with enough zombie action to keep things interesting. David and Sarah were great characters and I enjoyed seeing their attitudes towards each other shift as they dealt with the crisis they found themselves in. Nothing like a few zombies to save a marriage. While I didn’t find myself laughing out loud, I really enjoyed the humor worked into the story.

I thought that Cassandra Campbell did a wonderful job with the narration. I thought that she did a great job with the various character voices and I thought that she brought just the right amount of emotion to her reading. I hope to pick up the next book in the series very soon.
