Henry Carr Pearson

This particular book has a fair amount of marginalia, thankfully in pencil, but is otherwise in good condition. The second author is listed as "Instructor in Latin, Horace Mann School" which is the preparatory school in NYC.The primary author is listed as "Formerly Principal of the Horace Mann School" and now at "Teachers College, Columbia University," which shared campuses and perhaps buildings in those days.

It's a decent text, although I wouldn't recommend it for continuing an education in Latin. There are better texts, including Wheelock, which will advance the student of Latin more quickly than this. It's still very good, for its day (1930).

The books listed for reference and supplementary reading are very useful, from Thomas Bullfinch to Wm Shakespeare. It's a good addition to the collector's library.… (altro)
