It tells the story of a godly lady in England who committed herself to pray faithfully for a Peruvian priest to be converted. Her relatives had gone there as missionaries and even after their return she continued to pray. Several conversions took place but each had a flaw--not born in Peru, not actually a Priest etc....She could have accepted that any of these were the answer to her prayer but she knew that she had prayed specifically and that God would specifically answer, so she waited.
Fray Louis had been on a personal spiritual search all his life. He wasn't satisfied by atheism or by cultural Christianity. He became a Roman Catholic Monk committing himself fully to the task and believing that maybe this was the answer. But he became discouraged by the blatant hypocrisy by those serving with him. He tried everything to find peace including beating himself and carrying a cross but nothing worked. Then he found the forbidden dangerous Protestant literature in the library....
The book is the story of his search for truth and how he eventually found it. It is sincere and compelling. There is no bad language or sexual content. There is some violence and self abuse. I recommend this book especially to those want to understand the dangers of RC theology. It is sometimes easier to believe an account by an insider.… (altro)
