When I review a book, one of the main things I am looking for is whether or not this book will find a target audience. Although this book is well-written and has a nice enough story, I am not sure that there is enough of a "hook" in it, to grab and hold the current teenager's attention. Its about a young boy Aaron growing up in Queensland who goes along with an older boy who raids the local church and steals some stuff including valuable rosary beads from the back offices. Aaron is then eaten up with guilt for the next few weeks as the theft is reported in the local newspaper and police start door knocking. With this hanging over his head, Aaron must also get to know his mother's new boyfriend, befriend the aboriginal kid next door, worry about ancient myths and fears and survive a flood that engulfs the town.… (altro)
