Not the most compelling book I've read, yet the story is interesting. A retelling of the exploration and adventures of Captain Howard who was looking for the legendary golden city in southeastern America. It takes place during the French and Indian wars in early America. The author inserts a fictional woman into the story to allow for a bit of romance, but it doesn't get in the way. She garnered her information from diaries and documents of that time.
