The Children's Crusade: A Novel di Ann Packer
2.5 stars If you want to read a story about a hot mess of a family, this is the book for you. It's hard for me to rate this book. I didn't love any of the characters. Mom is unrealistically awful. Dad is extra wonderful. The kids suffer in the midsts of it. The storylines never went much of anywhere. And yet, I didn't feel like I was slogging my way through it. I almost enjoyed some of the individual moments, but not the overall book. I'm not sure why that is.
I would have given this a higher rating, but I thought the ending sucked. I wanted to slap Carrie. Frustrating.
Microscopic examination of relationships within a family. Kept my interest, but never really achieved liftoff.
