Wendell H. Oswalt

This book will one day become a classic in anthropology. While a relatively small volume, it contains a wealth of data regarding the evolution of food production technology. Oswalt's contribution to the subject is to show that not all great inventions are necessarily complex, or, to put it another way, do not appear to be complex. Even simple-looking implements are based upon generations of changes that promote their adoption, durability and efficiency.
