Summary: This story is about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and the main idea is whether they will bow down to the golden idol or not. Since they would not bow down the king had them thrown into the fiery furnace. However, instead of being burned alive they were saved by Jesus who was standing in the fiery furnace with them. The king then praised God because of what had happened.

Critical Response: The theme in this story is a very powerful one in that it teaches you that God can help you when you pray to Him.

Classroom Connections: In a Christian school, I would have a silent prayer time where students ask God for help in whatever area is bothering them. Students will write a letter telling God the needs on their heart. Further, I would complement this story with the Bible version of what really happened.… (altro)
