The 1916 Irish Rebellion, by Briona Nic Dhiarmada (read 15 Mar 2017) This is a companion book to a TV documentary, so it has lots of pictures anbd much quoting from participants in the Rising, which was foolhardy and not supported bymany Irsh at the time. But then when the Government shot after secret trials 15 of the leaders sentiment began to shift--as it did in my mind as I read the text. The book ends with one having to admire the bravery of the men who died, and understanding Yeats immortal words:
Now and in time to be Wherever green is worn, Are changed, changed utterly: A terrible beauty is born… (altro)
