Newsboys

The thirteenth album from Australian Christian band Newsboys also acts as the final installment in their discography with Peter Furler as frontman.

It marked the end of an era for the group, and was really the last effort for the band with a more rock-styled edge to them. While the band never packed a punch like more renowned Christian rockers such as Skillet or Disciple, they still did get a bit more rock-sounding, as evidenced by such tracks "The Way We Roll" or "My Friend Jesus." They also have several songs that are solid radio hits, like the title track or their own rendition of the classic "Lead Me to the Cross" -- done wonderfully, I might add. There's a solid mix of a variety of sounds, and as such the end result is a bit mixed. The album as a whole is solid, but it leaves a bit of a bittersweet feeling for me knowing that this is the final offering of the band with Furler at the helm. Specific tracks to highlight: "The Way We Roll," "No Grave," "This is Your Life," "Lead Me to the Cross," and "Dance."
