Old Children's Book. Liked it as a kid, but haven't read it in years.

For centuries, the mythical story of the Greek Trojan Horse has become a metaphor for the covert infiltration of an enemy's organization. In this action-packed spy thriller, FBI Agent Brad Tilsdale and his special counter-intelligence team work tirelessly to prevent foreign enemies from penetrating the U.S. government. An ex-Navy SEAL, Tilsdale heads a group of agents that confront the Soviet KGB and Chinese MSS intelligence services, Al-Qaeda terrorists, and—most deadly of all—spies working secretly within the U.S. government. Tilsdale constantly finds himself hobbled by timid bureaucrats, who avoid making difficult decisions until it is too late, while opportunities evaporate. When he decides to "go rogue" and operate outside of the system, he walks a fine line with his cautious superiors, who would rather sacrifice him than expose themselves to risk.

This is an interesting read, filled with modern historical and political references throughout the story that parallel existing conditions in world politics. Although factual details are necessary in this kind of book, I felt that at times the military and technical information slowed the story down, and reduced the characters’ believability. That aside, the theory put forward by author Dick Nelson of a covert mole, Pegasus, right at the top of the US government is fascinating. What is frightening is how easily it could happen. Double and triple cross scenarios pervade, with international alliances turning sour as the main players scramble to achieve their own agendas. The author weaves together existing political and economic facts with a horrifying ‘what if?’ scenario that will appeal to conspiracy theorists, fans of political thrillers, and readers who appreciate a ripping good story.
