Synopsis: Violet is a young woman struggling to make ends meet. She finds a well paying entry level job at Morning Glory. In this fantasy world, a certain bodily fluid produced by Minotaur bulls (yup, you know the one) is used in pharmaceuticals. Her job is to milk these bulls to produced the needed... emissions. One of the bulls who comes in for milking sessions takes a liking to her and soon they start dating.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

This book is very very spicy (is anyone surprised?) but I had a great time reading it.

I found Violet to be a very relatable character. She is struggling, like most millennials, to make ends meet. She just wants to pay her student loans and her rent. She is worried that if this job doesn't work out she'll have to move home and she really doesn't want to do that.

I would have loved to know a bit more about Violet but I think as a reader I knew enough to sympathize with her and to root for her.

The hero is wealthy and educated and treats Violet really well. He makes sure that she doesn't feel pressured to do anything physically before she is ready because he is aware there might be some potential for an imbalance of power in the relationship.

I enjoyed reading in this world and would love to read other books set in this world though at this time my library didn't have any of the rest of this series.

Some parts of this book really reminded me of the movie Pretty Woman though Violet is always careful throughout the pages to remind us that she works for a pharmaceutical company and her work is medical not the type Julia Robert's character was engaging in in the movie I mentioned. Even if there is a lot of crossover in the means, the ends are different.

Violet's work is primarily shown with the hero though we do see her occasionally working with other clients as well. The hero being Violet's primary on page client gave this more of a romance feel than I was expecting and I really ended up enjoying this.

I don't think this book will appeal to every reader but if it is something you think you'd enjoy I would recommend it.

I had an overall good time with this book and would read others like it.

C.M. Nascosta is excellent at writing millenial existential dread lol like almost too good!

CWs: story takes place during COVID, infertility, breeding kink, IMO unethical breeding clinic, existential millenial dread, knotting, shifter sex, explicit sex, toxic relationships (Lowell's brother Gray is in a very toxic relationship and this is often discussed throughout the book)

The timeline confused the hell out of me - I was never sure what the heck or when the heck I was reading? (like bigtime The Witcher season 1 "hi ACTUALLY we don't DO timelines" lol) I enjoyed a novella the author wrote that was included in the Wolves and Warriors Collection that basically had the shifter elements of this story and was a dark romance - so I was ready to love this. (AND I have loved the previous Cambric Creek stories)

There is non-monogamy throughout the book; which doesn't bother me when I read romance . . . BUT due to a total lack of communication about wants, needs and expectations between the MC's it did not work for me. I feel like non-monogamy deserves better representation.

The FMC has an abortion because she doesn't want to become a parent and I support her choice. She did not speak with the MMC about it and I did not find anything wrong with that choice either. Like, it was a pretty toxic, zero communication relationship where important parts of the MC's were kept sequestered from the other so she did what was right for her. The abortion decision is a short passage and it was never brought up again. I actually appreciate this. Some people have abortions and we should not expect those people to carry guilt of that decision with them throughout their life. There should be no guilt and you do not have to defend your choices.

CW's: mating kink, knotting, shifter sex, toxic relationships, unhealthy non-monogamy, workplace romance that is toxic

This was a sweet, low-angst continuation of the Cambric Creek series. I always knew mothmen could be little lovies.
