Yorkshiremen and women have a reputation for being a dour, hardheaded lot and "We don't play it for fun" does nothing to disabuse you of that notion. The long history of Yorkshire cricket and its many influential figures (many of whom proved controversial) are covered by a long time Yorkshire cricket journalist, including coverage of the then relatively recent Boycott affair (the player, not the idea of refusing to purchase something as a protest).

While the book is now over thirty years old, I doubt the attitudes of Yorkshire people have changed enough for "We don't play it for fun" to feel dated.… (altro)
