Piccolo libro che cede a un'ingombrante tentazione di forma (17 piccoli quadri - per la verità presentati in metafora come fotografie - affidati ad altrettante citazioni autorevoli) e non riesce a trasferire un'impressione di sostanza, soprattutto al lettore in cerca di qualcosa che vada oltre la piacevole curiosità. Certo, solleva un po' di domande - e questo comunque non è poco.

This was an interesting book for my library to have. And I began it with good hopes. About half way through it I began to see that it championing the linguistics of generative grammar. It sets up a scientific analysis that does not bear fully out. But we don't a cogent look at the art/science of linguistics which is bot descriptive and honest. I decided not to become a linguist because of the dominance of Chomsky and went into the field of transportation.
