Cricket should be a bigger sport in Malaysia. It has a significantly larger population than Sri Lanka yet has only ever been on the fringes of world cricket. I had hoped to learn more of the reasons why from Cricket in a Multiracial society: A history of cricket in Malaysia.

Sadly, reading this left me unfulfilled. Beyond the statement that Malays of Chinese background have never become greatly involved with cricket, there isn't much of an investigation into why cricket remains a minor sport in Malaysia. There are references to Lall Singh, Malaysia's greatest cricketing product, but little coverage of cricket at the 1998 Kuala Lumpar Commonwealth Games, the Malaysian cricket team's biggest appearance on the big stage.… (altro)
