This book, written by the ethologist and pathologist C. Lloyd Morgan, was conceived to draw men with no scientific backup to the amazing world of science by showing philosophical questioning to touch on easy subjects in this field, as it shows in the introduction:

“My object in writing this volume has been to provide such of a general public as have the appetite and digestion for this kind of mental good-stuff with some account of the teachings of the modern philosophy of evolution in the matter of science and conduct” (Preface/pg v)

Now, I have listed some reasons as to why this book would be enjoyable for some.

First, it gives insight into what was transpiring in the world of sciences at that time, so if you are interested in the study of the history of human relations and thoughts this is the book for you.

Secondly, it explains primary scientific knowledge with life stories as examples so one can study while feeling like you are reading an adventure novel.

Finally, some speculations and unproven theories from the author, about evolution and the universe, launch the mind into a myriad of new possibilities and ideas in these subjects, encouraging the lector to develop their string of reasoning.

Because of its elaborated writing is somewhat hard to read, you will have to be in full attention to not lose anything of importance, making this book perfect for practice in English lecture skills.

Science students may appreciate it as well because of the awesome ideas that you come along the way, wandering your mind with the world.

Now, I apologize for the next personal take in this review, but his way of thinking about a lot of topics is similar to mine, so I could relate and enjoy a better perception of the ideas in the book thanks to that, but I'm sure anyone would be able to enjoy his take into the world even if you think in a very different way.

In conclusion, this book was written by an amazing genius in his time, explaining the general views of science by society and the author in a funny yet interesting way while showing us a great deal of the delightful Victorian culture.
