Healthful cookbook/lunch ideas. Thought this was a nice one to browse through for lunch inspiration, but you will need to plan ahead/make enough dinner for sufficient leftovers. See also ChopChop / Sally Sampson for more ways to get the kids involved with making their own lunches.

As with most cookbooks, I found it helpful to be able to borrow this from my local library rather than purchasing, so for those of you who are contemplating giving cookbooks as a gift, please do that first.… (altro)

A book about healthy and delicious breakfasts that do not take long to prepare is a great idea, and long overdue, too!

A huge positive is the GORGEOUS photographs, which made me want breakfast for every meal! (See below for my future breakfast-for-dinner plans!) Also, there were many tips on how recipes could be frozen or made ahead, which is a helpful time-saver when trying to orchestrate a busy family morning. These tips sometimes caused the recipes to stretch over three pages, but I feel that could easily be remedied by adjusting the layout, and trimming the individual recipe introductions, which were sometimes over 100 words!

There is also a chart on how to 'Remodel Your Breakfast,' which is a helpful way to choose healthier alternatives based on what you enjoy eating. The recipes can easily be made vegetarian in that they for the most part do not center around meat. They also include whole grains and lots of fruit.

Favorite recipes include Freezer Ready Breakfast Burritos, Big Joe's Huevos Rancheros (making them for dinner), and the luscious looking Blackberry Orange Puffy Pancake.

The only drawback is that the book is a bit wordy, and could do with a more concise approach. And, I wanted more recipes. The book now promises 75, but because they looked so good, I wanted more!

Excellent reference for day to day lunches. The photos and styling are exquisite. On page 30 the author provides lists of breads, proteins, and fillings for you to mix and match. 75 creative, easy to make recipes follow. Is someone going to want every ingredient in each recipe? Not the picky eater or the person who wants the same thing every day. But the author explains how to handle and adjust the recipes for these food personalities and more. Whole grains, veg, and non-processed foods are advised. The author also encourages buying local and storing lunches in reusable containers. I spend one day a week packing meals for the week so this book, as I had hoped, gave me many new ideas for lunches and snacks.… (altro)
