Summary: This book has twenty-three poems that help you to look beyond nature. The poems encourage you to see the other side of it. For example, one poem Plenty is about not having enough cookies, glitter, or glue, but under the trees are too many leaves. There are plenty of leaves and finally enough.

Personal Reflection: I enjoyed this book about nature poems. I love nature and being outside. The poems use descriptive words, so I am able to see the image in my head. I love the way the author uses different shapes to reinforce the idea of some of the poems.

Classroom Extensions: 1.The teacher is can use this book to teach about the element of poetry such as imagery, shape, and figurative language. 2. This book can also be used in a nature study. The class can study nature and write a poem about it.

This book of poems was an excellent read. The author tried to bring back old memories from childhood whether the memories were "sweet or sour." All childhood memories have some type of meaning because the impact they inflicted was immense. Nature also plays a huge part in these poems because in many ways nature is always apart of many people's lives. These poems use the five senses and definitely one's imagination. Teach your child about the great features of poetry by having them listen to the words as they smoothly recite the poems. Give your child their opportunity to feel poetry and see it by reading to them, "Squeeze: Poems From A Juicy Universe."… (altro)

There Are free verse poems, rhyming poems, etc. The poems describe common things such as travels, money, holidays, happenings, animals, and the world around us. More specifically the poems are about things that happen to children: grandmaws hugs, not being able to save money, being stuck in a car going on a road trip, and many other things too! The poems allow you to enter the world of a child and how they think or feel. Certain poems can be selected from this book and used for lesson plans.… (altro)

This fantastic collection of Heidi Mordhorst's poetry allows the reader to enter into the word of a child. Remember being young? Saving your money for just the right treat, enduring grandma's lengthy embrace or seeing just how high we could take our swings? Squeeze revisits those times using sweeping language like "sunblush and skyshade" to pique our imagination. If this is what it does for me, I can only imagine what it does for a child!
