to me, the writing seemed to be written for a least-common denominator, which meant almost everything about the tech, the civilisations, the history, etc, even the dialogue, was written more like a dick and jane kindergarten story than it was for a science fiction book.

this appears to be part of a series, but i won't be looking to read more...… (altro)
