Ian Montagnes

The best way to think about this book is as a series of reasonably good photos, with long and sometimes meandering captions. The photography is clearly superior to the writing. The author, Ian Montagnes, is a graduate and presently works for the University of Toronto Press.

It is at its strongest showing the university as it appeared in the mid 1980s. I attended it about twenty years after this book was published, so it was interesting to see how the campus changed. I very much doubt that this book will be of interest to any but those who spent some time at the university. It need not be this way however. "The University of Toronto: A History," by Martin L. Friedland is a far superior book about the university.

If you are interested in a lot of good photographs of the university or vague nostalgia about your time there, then this is the book.… (altro)
