Much like Erika & Matthew's other graphic novels, an approachable, inclusive (not just ethnicities, genders, and sexualities but also disabilities which isn't something I see as often reflected!) book with a friendly approach to important topics like sex, romance, and consent. I think [b:Drawn to Sex Vol. 1: The Basics|38749137|Drawn to Sex Vol. 1 The Basics|Erika Moen|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1527875921l/38749137._SY75_.jpg|60339047] and [b:Drawn to Sex: Our Bodies and Health|50891463|Drawn to Sex Our Bodies and Health|Erika Moen|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580651632l/50891463._SY75_.jpg|75786333] are more in-depth, but Let's Talk About It takes a lighter approach, often from the perspective of vignettes where friends or partners discuss topics (which makes sense given the title). This would be more of an introduction, then, with the DtS volumes as references should your teen decide to dig deeper.

I also think it's great that LTAI takes a kind approach, especially as topics around sexuality often get flagged as taboo with fearmongering, which could make it scary for someone young to even seek out information, leading to uninformed adults and knowledge is power! The abuse checklists also are useful for examining your own behavior and those around you as well, also an important topic for interpersonal relationships.… (altro)

I backed the Kickstarter for the second Drawn to Sex volume, but hadn't read the first so fixing that now! Erika Moen's Oh Joy Sex Toy is an educational webcomic staple on sex ed, sexuality, and sex toy reviews, and the Drawn to Sex volumes are collections of the educational ones in physical (or eBook) form. This first volume is basics, divided into four parts: what are the fundamentals (consent, sex positivity, etc.), how to do it safely (contraceptives), how to do it yourself (because you should know how your bits work before inviting others to play!), and how to do it with others. Illustrations are simple and fun, and all around inclusive because everyone deserves to have good sex, regardless of size, shape, gender, etc.!

It's very sincere (though a bit cheeky with puns at times), and I would absolutely hand this off to future spawnlets so they're armed with knowledge before getting it on. Really approachable way for basic sex ed.… (altro)

Drawn to Sex Vol. 2: Our bodies and Health continues the work of the first volume, collecting Oh Joy Sex Toy's educational strips for folks who want a fun, handy reference without the sex toy reviews. Volume 2 covers anatomy, pregnancy & abortion, menstruation & menopause, and reproductive health (exams, when to talk to your doctor, common issues, and of course, STIs).

This was the random third book I received at the Kickstarter level I backed for [b:Drawn to Sex Vol. 2: Our Bodies and Health|50891463|Drawn to Sex Vol. 2 Our Bodies and Health|Erika Moen|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580651632l/50891463._SY75_.jpg|75786333], so there was a little overlap on a few strips, but otherwise this was mostly new-to-me content. A solid compilation of a year's worth of OJST strips, though I think it will be interesting to see how the sex toy reviews age over time (especially since I'm reading this one four years after the fact). The book reviews are solid though, and I definitely want to check them out (but not literally since my local library doesn't seem to have them).… (altro)
