Michael Talbot describes a wide array of experiences he has had which point to spiritual realities which many scientists tend to explain away through an appeal to more Newtonian or naturalistic paradigms of reality. His interpretations of such phenomenon are interesting, but such phenomenon can be understood in ways at odds with his interpretations. For instance, he says at one point that such strange phenomena are a manifestation of our mental states while also saying that there may be entities that can manifest in our reality and may be more like wild animals than rational beings. Both he and Dr. Jeffrey Mishlove seem to downplay the possibility of demonic entities, but their virtual denial of the existence of demons is derived from their non-Christian worldview. Similarly Michael Talbot interprets some of his experiences as evidence of reincarnation. There are other ways of understanding such experiences, however. The concept of reincarnation is a non-Christian belief incompatible with faith in the resurrection of Christ, Who rose body-and-soul from the dead. Contrary to the idea of reincarnation, Orthodox Christianity understands the human person as having an eternal value given to each person by God. The following website provides an excellent discussion of the pagan belief in reincarnation from an Orthodox Christian perspective:

Another DVD in our library is recommended together with its Orthodox study guide: "The Quantum Activist | DVD | (Orthodox Study Guide also available for checkout).'"

Brilliant comments by linguist Pinker. Much easier to hear him than read Pinker's work. But I do not understand his ideas much better after both reading his books and hearing interviews
