While the book had a good plot and kept you guessing as to who done it, I found the chapters a bit choppy. There didn't seem to be a transition from one scene to another, which made me have to re-read sections to see if I missed a page somewhere. There were also a lot of characters to try to follow and no real introduction to them. This is the first book in the series and I am told that they get better, so I am willing to read the second in the series as the first one wasn't totally bad.
All it takes for me to delete a kindle book I got free is when I see, in just the 1st few pages, something like 'save the plump little widow for desert'. Oh dear.
I really wanted to like this book. I liked the premise and the setting but for some reason it missed somewhere along the line.
Andrea's Grandmother tells her to cut her hair and put on coveralls to disguise herself when some strangers come to the ranch in the late 1800's in Wyoming. When "Andy" is kidnapped and force to go to the Hole in the Wall and spend time with the Wild Bunch things get very interesting.
Lots of stories about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid along with the other outlaws, all told with some very accurate history.
There is a lot of violence in this book, and maybe that was was bothered me. Yes, I know that the outlaws of the Wild Bunch were violent and killed and robbed and stole but most of the violence in this one is aim at Andy and her friend Billy, Billy being the only person who knows that Andy is a female. Both are beaten, shot at, and generally abused. Maybe that was what bothered me the most, that so much violence was directed at the youngest of the characters.
If you are big fans of the last of the old-time cowboy/outlaws this is a great story. It just didn't work for me as well as I would have liked.… (altro)

Okay, this was good. REALLY good. REALLY REALLY good. So good, in fact, that I have GOT to go back and get the first two in this series! It was a LOT better than I was expecting. It really gripped me and kept me hanging on, until I was, sadly, on the last page. I couldn't believe the ups and downs and twists and turns it took me on. FANTASTIC!
Dana and Sarah are some rockin' great sleuths! The story takes place on the way to Wyoming, in Arizona....Dana and Sarah are in their RV traveling back to Wyoming from California and solving a crime there. While traveling along the interstate, they are witness to a murder. But, once they stop as witnesses, their whole lives are about to change. Their return trip to Wyoming is delayed. Way delayed. As they work together to try to solve the crime, after all, they ARE senior sleuths, interesting twists occur. Terrorists. Drugs. Illegal entry. LOTS of no nos! Things they never expected to happen, happened. It was car wrecking chaos and kidnapping excitement and comedic humor all rolled into one big roller coaster of traveling suspense.
I absolutely, without a doubt, recommend this with the highest of 5 stars! You'll read this in one sitting if you're anything like me. I started in the morning and had it finished by that evening. It was just that awesome! I love the feel of the characters and the plot line as they came to life, I loved the writing style of Ms. Mead as she pulled me completely into the story. I will DEFINITELY be reading the first two books in this series, I will be anxious for another book with the daring and bold senior sleuths!!… (altro)
