New England Nightmares: True Tales of the Strange… di Keven McQueen

Another one of my guilty pleasure books. While this book discusses ghosts and cryptids that are relatively well known in New England, it also looks into verifiable happenings in the area. The doctor who was afraid of being buried alive, so he put a glass viewing window/tube that went from coffin to above ground. It's still there in the cemetery; if you dare you can look into the glass, I have to admit I'll be taking a trip there on my next stop in that state. It also mentions the story of poor Mercy Brown the first vampire in North America, and the horror she went through in both life and death. It also has some not as well known things from New England, including some of the strangest epitaphs I have ever seen. It's an excellent read for this time of year and something I want a copy of for my home library.… (altro)

Strange Tales of Crime and Murder in Southern Indiana di Keven McQueen

A slim, amusingly-written and -illustrated series of stories of some of the more unusual historical murder cases in Indiana, including a brutal mass murder, a protracted legal fight over the ownership of an unidentified man's body, and a murderer who was sentenced to death and then reprieved only to murder another individual in prison. People who like John Stark Bellamy's stories about crime in Cleveland will like this book, and I wouldn't mind reading more of this author's work.
