3591. The Last Summer: May to September 1914, by Kirsty McLeod (read June 22 2002) This is a 1984 book which I found quite poignant in its later stages, telling of the summer war came to Britain. Apparently the Library of Congress classified this as "fiction" per the back side of the title page, but it is not. I found this worthwhile reading. I recently have computerized my book list, and due to that can report that I have read 87 books which have "1914" in their title! I have not checked, but I suspect that no other year appears more often in titles of books I have read. It is the year a world ended, fully as cataclysmic as September 11.… (altro)
