OFFICIAL DISCUSSION: SOPHIE MCKENZIE'S COSE MY EYES in The Criminal Element Book Club (Agosto 2013)

Recensioni

"Hide and Secrets" reminded me of the author's popular "Girl Missing" novel she wrote a number of years ago. While I liked Cat and Tyler, I thought that the novel lacked suspense and the plot was a little thin. I was expecting more of a mystery thriller but it turned out to be an adventure - Cat trying to find a lost diamond and protect her dad from the baddy. Overall, this novel was far-fetched and predictable but younger teens might enjoy it more than I did.

I had not read any books from Sophie McKenzie before but from the synopsis I read I was very interested in reading it. I was hooked from the first chapter. I liked Evie and can understand the hurt she felt when she learnt that basically her whole life was a lie, but there was so many emotions in this, anger was a huge part played against her parents for not telling her. But she felt that her uncle may just be the one to help her get through this. That is until she is sent to Lightsea.

The friendships she makes at Lightsea are what she needs although life is never simple and she ends up as part of a love triangle.

As soon as she arrives at Lightsea she starts seeing her real mum as a ghost, or so she thinks anyway. But why do people think she is actually going crazy.

I am so glad she had real friends she could rely on as this book had so many twists and nasty turns it was gripping. There was also a shock near the end, I really didn’t see it coming either.

This was a fantastic book and very well written, I am so glad I had the opportunity to read the book and now I want to read more from this author.

Crafted with delicate intricacy and fast-moving action, the only book I've ever read that caused my daughter to ask, "Do you love that book more than me?" because of its ability to keep my attention no matter what was going on around me.

Gen thinks her only child was born dead, but eight years later a stranger appears at her doorstep to inform her the child was not only alive, but her husband was involved in fabricating the alleged death and whisking the baby away.

For two intense weeks, Gen follows up on the lead with the help of her husband's former best friend, Lorcan. The closer the pair delve to the truth, the more their worlds unravel.

With a haunting ending that you will always remember, this is definitely a book I wish I had written.
