- Jim McAuley was born in Dublin; he immigrated to the US in the 1960s to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he received an MFA in Poetry. He taught poetry and literature briefly at Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA, then moved to the State of Washington where he taught and resurrected the EWU Press, serving as its Director from 1993-1997. He directed the EWU Summer Writing Workshops in Dublin from 1979-1999. He retired to Ireland in 1998.
