The story of a military debacle in WW2. An Australian force sent to Ambon to slow the Japanese advance is doomed to failure - ill-equipped, undertrained, and too small for the job. They duly fall quickly to the Japanese and suffer appalling brutality as prisoners of war for the next three years.
I get no joy from war histories, and this book continues the trend.
