if you like Political Satire and a bit of a look into the future with a few laughs along the way, then this book is for you.

“We Have Lost The Pelicans” was rather different to what i had expected. I laughed but wasn’t sure if i was laughing in the correct places. It had a little bit of mystery and suspense in there too but again I was kind of confused in parts.

I must add that I’m not really a Political Satire kind of girl but i think for those who are, this book will be a real treat.
Thank you to TBC for an advanced copy

I kept waiting for the funny bits, but they never showed up. It was a slog. I abandoned it about 1/3 of the way through, without even feeling a need to skip to the back and see how things end up. I just don't care.

A fun novel is "We have lost the President" By Paul Matthews with others in the series. It is 2044, Britain is a Republic, the royal family now live in Florida and the President is due to announce that he will run for a third term in three days on Independence Day. The only problem is no one can find him despite a full search of Buckingham Palace. Howie Pond is the President's advisor - he's on the job, Britt is his girlfriend and an investigative reporter, she knows something is up and is determined to bring it to the people and the 50 vice presidents are acting like children. There are 5 books in the We have Lost series, a short snappy fun read on Kindle. Sort of Minties for the brain. but no decay.… (altro)

This rather unusual mystery takes place in a futuristic London. The royals are out and the country has a president. While this book can be read as a stand-alone, not having the background on the state of things could be a mite confusing. The title grabbed my interest, and I bypassed the first two books in the series. Catching up on things wasn’t too difficult, but it would have been better to read from the beginning of the series. In this novel, the country is in a state of coffee deprivation, and Howie Pond is trying to locate the government’s secret store that has gone missing. Meanwhile, his journalist wife Britt is trying to locate her own missing party: one of the royals is now a runaway fugitive. There’s a scary moment or two and plenty of humor in this adventure. Just make sure you have a cup of coffee, and keep your eyes open, because you never know. . .… (altro)
