I fell in love with this book the moment I picked it up. It's from that delicate era between the generations of "take a peck of flour" and the pristine kitchens that they showed on TV (in black and white, of course). The reviews of this book encompass multiple editions; this concerns the 1955 edition.

I have added an extra egg to the meatloaf, and some extra vegetables to the stew and pie, plus experimenting with seasonings, but the basic rules hold true. This old (1963) cookbook may not have all the trendy new things, but is still quite serviceable for people who want to make good old American food.… (altro)
