Set in South Africa in the Kruger Park and Mozambique. An adventure/action story featuring Sam Jenkins, a Kruger Park ranger and the poachers that hunt elephants and rhinos for their tusks or horns for sale in the ivory trade.

The kindle edition of this book, originally published in 1996 as “Dying is Not Easy” would benefit from a good editor, but it didn’t deter me from reading.

Written as action/adventure with romance included, The story opens a window on the ivory trade. The killing of rhino and elephants for their horns and tusks, have caused these animals to be put on endangered species lists and while the Kruger Park rangers work very hard to control their borders these animals are dwindling in number every year. But the book points out other negative effects of the poaching. The people who buy the ivory from the poachers, are the same people who provide guns to arm the warring conflicts on the African continent, and steal the food that the governments are trying to feed the people.
