Interesting but I don't think it was worth the effort.. I do think, however, that the writings are important and belong in specific collections of each of the writers showcased. Tillie Olsen's piece, "Not You I Weep For" was really good.

I used this book for my Senior Capstone Writing class in college. I valued the interviews and direction from the authors of the stories. It is about as close to sitting down with the author as it can be. Many times, the literature about the development of stories is critique. This isn't the case. Overall, a very helpful read for a future writer.
i bought this book at target, i admit, because i needed something to read, and there was a dog on the cover. it is... odd enough that i read the whole thing, but i would not recommend it. the main character is a loser, who, admirably, is trying to make sense of her life, but (stop reading here if you dont want me to spoil anything for you) at one point, adriane is sleeping, and her dog bites off her ear. ??????? 1. why? 2. how could she sleep through that? 3. why is there a picture of a chihuahua on the cover when the dog is reportedly a sheltie? 4. was she on drugs? in all, not believable, not a good book.… (altro)
