In Angels By My Side, Betty Malz provides a detailed glimpse of the angelic help that God can provide for us. Malz uses her own personal experiences, anecdotes from others who believe they have received divine assistance, and Biblical scripture to support her claims.
According to Malz, angels are sent to us upon God’s command when we pray for help. Persistence in prayer is a key to getting assistance. The author notes that it is important when we pray for a specific request, our hearts are in the right place. Malz provides numerous examples of people who have the “right motives” for their prayer requests, but I wish she spent more time distinguishing “right” and “wrong” motives for clarification.
The author claims angelic intervention can occur in three major ways: when we are in a helpless situation and need strength, in the midst of danger, and when we are faced with temptations. God can send his angels to fight or minister to us when we ask for help. Angels can come in human and supernatural form.
During an intervention, Malz’s research uncovered three types of angelic visits. We may sense the presence of angels at the time, we may only realize an angel has intervened after the situation, and sometimes, we are never even aware that an angel has been there with us.
This is a fast read with amazing stories that made me reflect upon my life to think about experiences I’ve had where I believe there were angels involved to help me in my times of crisis. The stories I read will stay with me for a long time!
