Patrick Macias is the editor in chief of Otaku USA magazine, the founding editor of Crunchyroll News, and the author of numerous books about Japanese pop culture including TokyoScope: The Japanese Cult Film Companion. In addition to contributing liner notes to the Criterion Collection and Arrow Video, he also wrote the original story for the anime series URAHARA which was simulcast globally in 2017. Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Patrick now lives in Tokyo, Japan.

A very good rundown of the various stripes of Japanese film, though there are a few occasions where it feels like Macias is recommending certain films ironically.

A fun guide to otaku culture in Japan. Like most travel guides, Cruising the Anime City, provides travelers with a variety of different unique destinations while providing little known tips/hints that most visitors might not be aware of. This guide not only caters to anime fans, but also fans of Japanese technology and Cosplay/Harajuku fashion. I would recommend this guide as it provides many practical tips for navigating through Tokyo. Whether your traveling with a tour or planning your otaku fantasy vacation, I would defiantly check out this book. The only negative is that this book was written in 2004 so I'd recommend double-checking any travel plans beforehand.… (altro)
