I am not a big fan of using dialects in books. I am happy it wasn't overpowering in this book, but it did take me a bit to get used to. Having said that, MacFarlane's use of speech is a talent I wish more authors had. You can feel character personalities strength between every set of quotation marks!

5/5 An intriguing mystery

Woven with romance, friendship, and religion, Snagged tells the story of James and Dorcas, how they meet and where their chance encounter takes them. Set in the rugged wilderness of Alaska, the author does a fantastic job of describing the setting and the way it affects the characters. The details were beautifully written and I deeply enjoyed the way the author had a focus on the religious beliefs of both characters and used that to make their relationship even stronger.

Homer Bait and Switch was a slower read, focusing on the life of fishermen in Alaska. Drama begins to unfold when Lynn arrives in town, bringing both friendship and romantic drama into the story with her. Like the case with many of Miss MacFarlane’s works, the descriptions of the settings are outstanding, painting vivid imagery to help guide the story along. The way the author describes the Alaskan wilderness is definitely catching and so is the way the characters interact with one another. The dialogue and personalities feel very real, hooking the readers into dilemmas that are both believable and suspenseful.… (altro)

In this post-apocalyptic world, we see that humanity is split into tiny tribes of survivors. A lone Hunter named Nightwind prefers to spend his time alone. That is until he rescues Jo Jo from predators and realizes that companionship isn’t so bad after all.

This was a very different, thought-provoking take on the end of the world. These two very different people must learn to get along in a world destined to destroy them. But more than that, they also grasp with the idea of love, pondering if such a thing is still possible for the lives they live.

While I’ve read other works by this author, most of which are in the romance genre, I’ve come to learn that she has a very unique way of looking at all parts of the world. This dystopia twist on her writing is inspirational.
