I am a big fan of Andy Seto and love the Crouching Tigger Hidden Drgaon series, although in general I like this book, it is my least favorite from the books I have read in the series so far. Again the graphics are immense, but in my own opinion I feel the story line is weaker than other books from the series, the entire book seems to be engulfed by a sword fight between two Wudan Kung Fu experts, Li Mu Bai vs Long Gao, although the sword fighting is awesome, and very detailed, I think this sword fight lasts too long (and I am a big fan of sword fights), but this book really need more to the story line than one long sword fight to be on a par with other books in the series, I understand why the long sword fight sequence was required in the story telling of the big picture, but I just feel that it was a bit too long, I would still recommend this book, and other people will have different opinions to my own, but it is my least favorite book, in a series of books that I love, but every author is allowed one weaker book, in a series of books that are in general excellent reads!… (altro)

Continues the story line from previous books well, Excellent book, story and graphics throughout, particularly like the sword fighting scene between Jen Yu and Dark Cloud, which displays various fighting moves like Jen Yu ‘Soaring Wood Move’ and her ‘Sixiang sword tactics’ along with the ‘Dancing Crane Move’ & my favorite ‘Stretching Dragon Move’ all excellently drawn. And are detailed & coloured very well. The colour scheme throughout the entire is constantly excellent. Within this book you clearly detect the early build up and stages of the love developing between Jen Lu and Dark Cloud, the story transfers from Jen Lu and Dark Cloud trying to kill each other to falling in love with each other. In true Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon theme, poisonous needles are used by the well known villain Jade Fox. The quality of the artwork is immense, plenty of time spent developing such beautiful graphics, the story line is very easy to follow in this novel. I am certainly a big fan of Andy Seto and this high calibre of work. In my own opinion I could find no negatives about this book, I truly enjoyed it. If you liked the movie, you will enjoy this prequel.… (altro)

I am a big fan of Chinese related movies from ancient times, and have been for years, I spent a gap year in China helping out in a charity, which was a life changing experience, and my interest in China grew from this experience. About three years ago I discovered a whole new world of graphic novels related to the kind of movies I like, This novel is very good, pre-dates the film (I think!!! From my own understanding of the story-line). In general I can follow the story line, by the visual graphics, but occasionally some of the graphics can be a bit confusing particularly for new comers to such graphic novels, but the more you read the more familiar the Chinese style, colourings and meanings of graphic pictures become. Sometimes, it is better to read such a novel twice, because your understanding during the second reading is higher than the first time, and more enjoyable. Sometimes graphics are used to explain as situation rather than words. Something that I had to get use to again, because my comic reading days are decades ago. I am totally hooked on this type of novel, and hope one day to own all the series. I think to the best of my knowledge there are 12 books in the series, I remember volume 1 selling over 100’000 copies quickly, there was huge interest in the novel, and rightly so. The novel as a good story line and many good visuals of sword fights. My love of such movies, graphics is growing bigger, next is to find some text only books that are similar to the crouching tiger, hidden theme. Should any members know of any books that relate to Chinese history (All BC to 1900’s right up to the boxer revolution period), let me know.… (altro)
