This is a gorgeous book, with a beautiful gilt decoration of a tall ship in full sail blocked on the spine, even more attractive than the front cover. If I only had room to shelve books because of beauty alone, it would be in my house forever. It should be properly entitled Naval customs .... of the United States, because of the amount of information on US flag lore, national anthem, etc. A very complete treatment of the topic.
