I couldn't even get past the first couple of pages. There was just way too much plot development thrown at us up front, without any character development at all. Without any chance to get to know or care about the main character, giving us a love interest on page 2 with "melancholy practically pour[ing] off him," yadda yadda, is a bit much to handle. We don't even know who Christine is yet! I just couldn't get into it.

DREAM GIRL was terrific and disappointing at the same time for me. The author has managed to write an engaging work, but like so many e-books, it is merely the beginning of a story. Picture the portion of THE STAND in which we're introduced to Stew and the others at the gas station, the car takes out the pumps, then the army comes in and takes them off and this is where the story would end. Like this, it is merely the preface to a story, getting us ready for what is to come.

The characters are well written and introduced in ways that pulls the reader into the story without him knowing it. My problem being I started to read and was at the end wondering how you got there so quickly. I would have liked to seen more information about the agency as well as Bret and the two thugs with him. How they came into being at the agency? What made them choose to leave? What is this dream world? How does it work? Just who is Leo? How does the dream world work? Can things be controlled?? What makes people be able to get into the dream world? How does the training work?… (altro)
