I really wanted to like this but all the characters seemed to be the same, especially the sisters. It sort of seemed like I was an outsider looking in as opposed to being there with them if you know what I mean.

The conclusion to When Hope Calls, "Unfailing Love ", is a fantastic way to end the series. The lives of Lillian and her sister , Grace unfold with themes of family ties, love and faith in God.
In this book, three children have run away and it impacts the lives of everyone in the children's home that Lillian and Grace run. Lillian's father also returns with a surprise of his own, causing Lillian to look deeper into herself. Everyone has to make some difficult choices and some even have to compromise their dreams.… (altro)

Alright, so being as obsessed with the When Calls the Heart TV show as I am, when I heard there was a companion novel (a follow up if you will) to When Hope Calls....I knew I wanted to give this book a try. I needed something heartwarming and happy. I wanted a focus on family. I wanted a book that advocated for adoption and children. I read so many heavy books that it was nice to have a change.

The story of Lillian and Grace, two sisters who were separated when younger, is a sweet one. Lillian was adopted into a wonderful, loving family. Grace bounced around from one children's home to the next. But it was THAT that gave Grace a heart for other orphans and a desire to help! The two sisters learn the other is indeed alive and once they find each other, they refuse to let the other go.

I loved each and every character--including the children that we get to meet. Lemuel--who was adopted and then given back up. Bryony--a shy little girl who adores music. And so many more. And yes, the brief mentions of Lee and Rosemary and Elizabeth made this girl squeal.

It is a faith based book that actually feels REAL. It shares about people's doubts about a loving God and yet difficult circumstances. I really appreciated its authenticity when other Christian authors tend to be holier than thou and border on overt proselytizing.

I'm intrigued to read the second book when it comes out in June. And I don't always say that with Christian/Inspirational fiction these days.
