Intriguing idea rating your happiness. I feel as if, as Daniel did in a way, that rating it makes it less than what it really is. Can you decide as
Doroteia did that your happiness comes from acceptance and not hope?

This novel seemed a little dark. The children laden with such anxiety and stress so early in their lives. I'm not sure if I loved this book or hated, it because it was so depressing, so I gave it a 3 in hope that it will grow in me over the days as I think about the message I got from it.

Over all the imagery David Machado produces was excellent. Xavier's apartment like his feelings helped you to understand his unhappiness. Almodovar's role in prison as Daniel's muse to express his experiences and feelings was brilliant. I just wish I could find out if Daniel gets his job or not. I guess that's for us to decide- do we let him accept his in employment or hope for his employment so he is happy again???

I rarely give 1 star ratings. Usually I can find at least one redeeming quality from a book. I'm drawing a blank with this one. Zero likeable characters. Messy plot. That ending...wtf!!! So glad I got this book for free or I would want my money back.

After philanthropist and art connoisseur T. Colfax Bradshaw is murdered, legal intern Cynthia Jakubek finds herself in the middle of the investigation after she is asked to represent Bradshaw's teenage daughter Caitlin.

This story had a complicated plot and some surprises along the way. But at times I found it confusing to understand what was going on. I listened to this on audio and I may have missed things that I wouldn’t have if I was reading it. Overall, I liked some parts and not others but I may try another by this author in the future.… (altro)

A fast moving mystery told from the perspectives of loss prevention specialist Jay Davidovich and lawyer Cynthia Jakubek. From insuring a contested piece of art to safeguarding a client, with a wedding and a mysterious woman thrown into the mix, both Jay and Cynthia have their hands full. When secrets are brought to light, events take a deadly turn, leading to an exciting conclusion.

A reasonably well-plotted story that does a decent job of balancing several storylines, with only a bit of confusion, particularly relating to the title. Jay and Cynthia are relatable characters and the supporting cast have distinct personalities. I wasn't a fan of a specific scene near the end of the book and there were a couple of other scenes where the characters made questionable choices, but over all it was a good read. I'd read another book featuring these two main characters.
