Limited Editions Club

The undated introductory prospectus of the Limited Editions Club, promising a restricted membership of fifteen hundred subscribers and a finely produced book every month; titles they have read before, or have always wanted to read, but could never get in fine or in illustrated delux editions. During the first year the Club will use the greatest of American book illustrators, designers and printers. For the second year, steps are already in hand to have English language books designed and printed in Verona, Leipzig, Paris, London, Copenhagen and Barcelona, representative of the finest book talent in Europe. The prospectus describes the first twelve books and their illustrators, designers and printers: 'The surprising adventures of Baron Munchausen'; Walt Whitman, 'Leaves of grass'; Freidrich Karl Von Motte-Fouque, 'Undine'; Jonathan Swift, 'Gulliver's travels'; John Greenleaf Whittier, 'Snowbound'; La Fontaine, 'The fables'; Edgar Allan Poe, 'The narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym'; Robert Louis Stevenson, 'Two medieval tales: A lodging for the night and The sire of Maletroit's door'; Washington Irving, 'Rip Van Winkle'; Giovanni Boccaccio, 'The decameron'; Alphonse Daudet, 'Tartarin of Tarascon'; and Daniel Defoe, 'Robinson Crusoe'.
