Dr. Qing Li offers suggestions of specific locations ideal for forest bathing; however, they are mostly in Japan. He does note popular parks in US metropolitan cities that are optimal for practice. He shares options for incorporating forest bathing into one’s household with plants and essential oils.
I love forest bathing. Simply looking at trees out a window is soothing for me. I am fortunate to live in a place where I have easy access to nature and trees. My husband and I love trees; we have planted many in our yard. I love everything about them; the changes in seasons, the texture of the bark, and the beautiful leaves.
Dr. Qing Li suggests spending two hours a day forest bathing. Unfortunately, that amount of time isn’t practical in my daily life at this time. When my husband and I spend time hiking in Sedona, I feel the greatest benefit of forest bathing. Being surrounded by nature and amazing trees is so grounding and peaceful. During our most recent trip, I took a lot of pictures of trees I found to be gorgeous. Reminiscing with these pictures is calming too.
This book is great for people who are new to forest bathing and want to learn about the practice. It’s also perfect for those who practice forest bathing as Dr. Qing Li validates why you spend time in nature. I know reading this book made we want to get outside more frequently. It also opened my mind to finding new ways to appreciate nature and alternatives for those winter months when my time outside is reduced.
I purchased this audiobook from Audible. Narration by Ramon Tikaram is outstanding.
