I read this while thinking I might do a polar trip. It is haunting. Thankfully, political diatribes on the melting polar ice-cap and our environmental situation do not completely ruin the book. The book is a coffee table book with amazing pictures. The text, aside from the chapter on global warming, was suprisingly excellent. And lots of information on the 2-3 native tribes still living close to the Pole. Pictures were spooky, haunting, electric, moving.
