I have to say that I really could not get into this book at all. I'm not a big sci-fi reader, and found that it was just "over my head" I guess. I felt that if I were a reader of that genre, I probably would have enjoyed it, but I just felt lost from the get go. Sci-fi fans would probably enjoy it, but from the first page, I just felt like I was plopped into the middle of the story and was clueless as to how to find out what was going on.

Lots of intense description of the Circus inmates and their enemies, and some very sensual sex, but I found it quite difficult to follow what was actually going on. I actually found Black Sunday, the companion novella set in Dustbowl Texas, much more approachable and liked it more. I will certainly look out for more from Lakin-Smith in future.… (altro)

Johnny and Emmie-Lou get married [short fiction] di Kim Lakin-Smith
Two street racers from rival gangs race to the Church with opposing aims in their souped-up (steam powered?) cars. Would make a great film, rather less exciting as text.
